Welcome to Posh & Pure Styled! I’m so glad you’re here!
“Nature gives you the face you have at twenty; it’s up to you to merit the face you have at fifty.”
– Coco Chanel
I’m Cate Cook, The Creator of Posh & Pure Styled. A website that encourages inner growth as much as outer beauty, for living boldly and creatively while discovering who you were born to be.
Let’s face it, we all have a story to tell. You didn’t get to be who you are today overnight, right? Life has a way of shaping us along the way.
I believe our obstacles are our blessings, giving us the power to reroute our lives and change the world for the better. No one ever changes or finds out what they are made of when life is comfortable. Obstacles and adversity tend to show up when you need to be sent in a different direction. Truth.
Outward beauty begins inside. I could spend all day in the bathroom if you let me, trying out new products and new ways to do my hair and makeup. But the real transformations happen when you understand your purpose, reconnect with your soul and trust God for your “personal makeover”.
Adversity is the diamond dust heaven polishes jewels with.” -Thomas Carlyle
Are you someone who has a story to tell? Have you gotten to a point in your journey where you are ready to share your voice, but don’t know how? Or are still wondering what your voice is? You’re still tryint to find your purpose? Still, wondering what you are here to do?
Or, do you know what your passion and purpose are but don’t know what to do with it? Maybe even create a business around it and monetize it?
It’s never too late to be who you want to be.”
I believe if you have the desire or “itch” to do something, it is because you are meant to. It is not too late to discover your purpose and style your life from the inside out.

I grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago in the 70s and 80s with a very lighthearted and upbeat, Chicago Firefighter dad and a friendly and fun quirky mom who was a homemaker. We lived in a very modest brick bungalow which looked like every other house on my block, with my two younger siblings, one sister, and one brother. Life was good. A very happy childhood filled with mainly good memories even though I was quiet and shy.
Skinny doesn’t even describe how thin and gangly I was despite a healthy appetite. I didn’t have much self-confidence with anything I did and didn’t always feel like I fit in. Reading and art were my “sports” growing up. Being an introvert suited me just fine.
As a creative, I always thought I would grow up to be some sort of artist. But fear of not being “as good” as everyone else, and not believing in my talents, I dropped out of art school before I even started.
I married my high school sweetheart, my first ever, real boyfriend when I was 22. I remember being at my engagement party where I couldn’t even legally drink the champagne since I was under 21.
As a young 23-year-old and pregnant with my first child, I found out the baby I was carrying had Spina Bifida. I had 3 weeks to “make a decision”. I never prayed so hard during this extremely terrifying and emotional time, as I did for the rest of the five months I was pregnant. My prayers were answered.

My prayers being answered did not mean that my son didn’t have Spina Bifida, it meant that he is doing great. It also didn’t mean that throughout the years of raising him, it wasn’t without struggle. So many doctor appointments, surgeries, physical and occupational therapies, leg braces, medical bills, and trying to figure out my way as a new mom, a young mom, and someone who had no idea how to be a mom, let alone a mom of a child with extra needs.

Right now, he’s a 30-year-old, intelligent and handsome man. (okay I may be biased but I think you would agree too) He has a Master’s degree in bio-energy, a great job, lots of friends, and a girlfriend he’s crazy about.

You see, I am so different than I was 30 years ago. So much has happened to me for me since then. Two more kids, divorce, remarriage, two more kids, bankruptcy, foreclosure…the list goes on.
My story is filled with broken pieces, terrible choices, and ugly truths. It is also filled with a major comeback, peace in my soul, and grace that has saved my life.
In the most recent 10 years, I have grown to realize that if all of the setbacks, obstacles, and financial ruin hadn’t happened in my life, I would be the same quiet, bored, unfulfilled person I was back then.
I have realized to trust my intuition, believe in my path, and know that everything always works out in the end. Sometimes what you pray for shows up in better ways than you could have ever imagined.
For unanswered prayers
Remember when you’re talkin’
To the man upstairs
That just because he doesn’t answer doesn’t mean he don’t care
‘Cause some of God’s greatest gifts
Are unanswered prayers”
