It goes without saying that 2020 has been different than most years, even if you’ve had a pretty good year yourself. I find it fascinating to look at how the energy vibrations of each year can be spot on with predicting how the year will unfold, both personally and as a universal whole.
Navigating Your Life With Numerology
For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in numerology. Even though I grew up Catholic, where astrology and numerology were frowned upon as “the devil’s work”, I personally think it’s all connected. Science, religion, spirituality…all of it is connected. The same God who created you and I also created the stars in the heavens and the synchronicity of numbers.
When I was a kid, I would visit my grandmother who lived with us (upstairs) and we would pour over books about astrology and numerology. I loved talking to my Gram about all of this and trying to figure out how my life would unfold.
So, for any of you who have never heard about numerology or don’t know much about it, I’m about to give you a very basic explanation.
Numerology is an ancient art and science of numbers, which can help you understand the over-arching purpose of your life. Every number (0-9) holds a specific vibration. The numbers that add up from your birthday, your house address, or the year you’re currently in, are just a few ways of how these numbers can personally affect or reveal what’s going on in your career, health, relationships, or any facet of your life.
Whether you believe in this or not, it is fun and fascinating to look at. I think if you did your chart and saw how you started your career in a 1 year, or got divorced in a 6 year, or got that promotion in an 8 year, you would be anxious to see what 2021 would look like for you!
Dr. Felicia Bender has a wonderful book called Redesign Your Life, which walks you through how to figure out your own set of personal numbers based on the day you were born and the name you were born with. These numbers show you which stages of your life you may have to navigate through delicately or tenaciously and then walks you through a step-by-step process for successfully making small, medium, and larger changes in your life if necessary.
For those of you who are curious about learning more, Dr. Felicia Bender has a workshop being offered from January 24-February 14, 2021. She is doing more of an individualized approach to what’s going on in the book. Click here to learn more about the Redesign Your Life Workshop. And to receive $15 off the workshop by using promo code: CATE15
This Book and/or Workshop Would Be Good For:

So, if you are experiencing a transition in your life, large or small, this may help you understand what’s really going on under the energetic current of your life and how to make the most of it.
How To Figure Out Your Life Path Number
Your life path number is based on the date of your birth. So for example, my birthday is 6-24-1966.
So, I add together 6+2+4+1+9+6+6 to get 34.
Then I add together 3+4 to get 7.
7 is my Life Path Number.
How To Figure Out Your Personal Year Number
Your Life Path number is based on the day you were born and never changes. But, the Personal Year Number is the number you vibrate at all year (from Jan-Dec), and changes from year to year.
To calculate my personal year number for 2021:
I add together 6+2+4+2+0+2+1 to get 17.
You must further reduce by adding together the 1+7 to get 8.
8 is my personal year for 2021. (7 was my personal year for 2020)
(Which happened to be pretty spot on for what this (7) year has been about for me personally)
Universal Year 2020
To put things in perspective, I wanted to show you the numerology behind this crazy year that we are ending.
2020 is a 4 year for all of us universally. (2+0+2+0=4)
This 4 year has been about hard work, limiting circumstances, and long-range goals. It also has been to force us to:
- Investigate the very foundation of our lives with “20/20 vision”
- Diligently work at setting longer-range goals for the future
- Get real, get practical, and do the research to formulate a sustainable plan for the future
- Tenaciously move through limiting situations and circumstances
Is that profound or what?
Universal Year 2021
Looking ahead to next year…or I should say next month.
2021 is a 5 year for all of us universally. (2+0+2+1=5)
A 5 year brings CHANGE.
Fives are all about creative freedom through focus and risk taking.
Fives are all about adventure!
Fives are all about new experiences, new ideas, and new everything!
Fives are all about embracing uncertainty.
Some Possible Detours In A 5 Year
As with any year, there is good with the bad. There is no year that has all good or all bad. It’s called life.
Fives are about confusion, overwhelm, lack of focus…
Fives are about escaping through self-indulgence or addictions…
Fives are about refusing to take personal responsibility…
Fives are about stirring up drama instead of focusing on practicalities…
Fives are about skipping over the hard stuff…
Fives are about getting easily derailed and waking up at the end of the year with a big “hangover”.
It’s good to know these things going in so you know what to watch out for and plan for avoiding these detours.
Personal Year Meanings
From the day you were born to the day you die, each year has an over-arching theme to it based on your personal year number which we figured out above. Here are the themes to each of the Personal Years:
1 Personal Year:
Career-focused, planting seeds, dynamic, forward-thinking. To learn how to stand on your own two feet.
2 Personal Year:
Patience, love, networking, slowing down, rest & relaxation. Relationships, focusing on others and intuition. To clarify your emotional boundaries and focus on love and relationships.
3 Personal Year:
Self-improvement, communication, creativity. An emotional year. Learning to find your voice.
4 Personal Year:
Hard work, limiting circumstances, long range goals, getting organized and setting a firm foundation that will make your life more productive and satisfying.
5 Personal Year:
Freedom, change, facing fears. To explore how to face your fears and be open to dramatic change.
6 Personal Year:
Responsibility, relationships, feeling at home. To get serious about how you love and want to be loved. Great year for business, self care, and nurturing yourself. It’s also been called the marriage or divorce year.
7 Personal Year:
Inner work, knowledge gathering and digging deep into spiritual growth. To look below the surface and reveal how to step into your next level of personal growth. Beautiful year for research, expansion, and personal growth.
8 Personal Year:
Financial growth, personal empowerment, and endurance. It begins a 3-year “push” cycle for money and getting your financial life under control. It’s stepping into your power year!
9 Personal Year:
Wrapping things up, letting go of everything, making room for the new. To allow things to fall away in order to step into a new and exciting phase in your life. Shed your skin to expand your personal evolution.
What has 2020 meant for you? What does 2021 have in store for you?
All of this just barely scratches the surface of what I love about numerology. There is so much more to know. If you are curious about learning more about yourself and the ones you are closest to, I would buy the book and/or take the workshop in January. (Don’t forget to put in CATE15 for $15 off) I believe that any time you learn more about yourself, you then can understand why things may not be working out at this current time, or why they are. You get to understand what other ways you can move this humanity thing forward. And, you get the insights into your psyche that can open up a new way of looking at the world around you.
