Recently, I wrote about how fall gets me excited due to the thought of new fall boots, with it, of course, would be a new fall/winter bag to go with it! Even though I tend to invest in classic shapes that will last me several years, if not decades…it’s good to know what the 2020 runway is showing for the latest fall handbag trends to shop for this season.
Bottega Veneta seems to be everywhere this year. From the Cloud pouch to the Cassette leather shoulder bag, this designer brand produces some awe-inspiring handbags that elevate every outfit. If you can’t afford Bottega Veneta this year, please read about how you can get a designer look for less right here.
Fall Handbag Trends
With lots of simple “Work From Home” dressing, a good bag can add some excitement to your wardrobe. I’ve noticed five distinct trends this season that has graced the runways and fashion magazines.
For Fall 2020 and Winter 2020-2021, I’m showing lots of thick chains, faux croc, lots of quilting, cloud bags, and lighter colors than we normally see in fall. Perhaps it’s in hopes of being optimistic for a brighter tomorrow, after such a shitty year. Fingers crossed that we will all turn a page in the right direction in 2021.
Here is a breakdown of the fall trends I’m seeing in handbags this year:
Thick Chain Links
Thick, acrylic chain links are everywhere! They really make the most plain bag adorable, and have been seen on new designer bags like Yuzefi and Gu-De to veteran design houses like Bottega Veneta.
Quilted has been around for a while at Gucci, Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta. But, now the quilted look has been magnified giving almost a “puffer” jacket look. What can be cozier than a puffy purse?
Faux textures like crocodile and snake are classic looks, but now so many designers are making a Croc-embossed version of their bags.
Whether on a chain strap or as a clutch bag, this roomy shape compliments many styles. It’s a more fashion-forward version of the shoulder bag or the clutch.
Cream and Light Colored
Of course, light and especially cream bags are seen in the spring and summer months. But, now the pastel and springy hues are shown complimenting a fall wardrobe. I think it has to do with the “white boot” trend happening in the fall shoe world. Wearing a cream bag, I think, looks very chic and unexpected!
If you’re shopping for a fall handbag, there are many good choices to choose from this season. So many cute looks to liven up our pretty boring “work from home” outfits! All price points are represented with these trends, and I hope you enjoy the bags I’m coveting this fall.
