It’s been two weeks since I tried out the Dazzle Dry Nail System. As a “clean” nail brand, Dazzle Dry claims that their nail polish system will not chip for 2 weeks. Very unlikely for a healthy nail product that doesn’t contain gels or acrylics. I was curious to see if it were true, so I booked my appointment with Jane at Elysian Spa in Hinsdale to give it a try.
After the latest step-back in the COVID-19 quarantine protocol, I was afraid I was going to get stuck with my powder dip manicure in case they shut the nail salons down. So, I wanted to go with something that didn’t require a special electric file and pure acetone to remove my outgrown dip polish.
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with acrylics, gels, and dips for a long time now. While they offer long lasting color and quick dry time, their synthetic chemical formulations can create long-term problems such as unhealthy UV exposure, contact dermatitis, and overall damage to the natural nail plate.
Dazzle Dry works without damaging the natural nail and actually helps to keep them healthy. This line is free of harmful chemicals and skin-sensitizing ingredients. It’s made without animal by-products or animal testing, making it the cleanest performance polish in the industry.
Does Dazzle Dry Nails Really Work?
How does it keep the nail polish looking fresh after 2 weeks of wear and tear without harmful chemicals? The secret is in the nail strengthening Nail Prep, the water-based Base Coat with a rubbery polymer, along with Dazzle’s own line of nail lacquer. You can’t mix and match with Dazzle’s Base Coat and your own nail color. You must use the whole system in tandem for lasting results.
Benefits of Dazzle Dry
Dazzle Dry is free from harmful chemicals and skin-sensitizing ingredients such as toluene, formaldehyde, TPHP, nitrocellulose, camphor, formaldehyde resin, ethyl tosylamide, phthalates, xylene, and MEK
Unlike most high-performance polishes, Dazzle Dry does not contain nitrocellulose, which can cause nail plates to yellow and nail polish to degrade. Because of this, the polishes never expire and your nails never yellow.
When used as a system, Dazzle Dry delivers chip-free wear for up to two weeks. It delivers the long-lasting performance of a gel or dip system but removes with the ease of a traditional polish.
Taking only 5 minutes to dry, you can feel confident in walking out of the salon and finish the rest of your errands without having to fear smudging your freshly painted nails.
Easy To Remove When Ready To Change Color
Most long-wearing nail colors require an electric file or acetone to remove the color. Dazzle Dry can be removed with regular nail polish remover at home if necessary.
4 Steps To Creating Long-Lasting Manicure
1). File, Buff, and Prep Nails
Prepping your nails by filing and buffing, and pushing back cuticles, is obvious. But, the first step of the system is to use the “Nail Prep” which is basically a nail strengthener. Just soaking a cotton ball with the Nail Prep and wiping it over each nail is all you need to do to get started.
2). Base Coat
Two coats of the Base Coat is required instead of the usual 1 coat with other brands, but it does make the lacquer adhere to the nail beds nicely.
Two coats of your chosen nail lacquer color is the next step. There are many to choose from ranging from soft pinks and nudes to bright yellows and blues or deep, rich browns, purples, and black.
4). Top Coat
Just one coat of the Top Coat will do! Give it a rest for 5 minutes and you’re good to go! No need to worry about chips and smudging for the next two weeks.
Conclusion…Did It Last?
All in all, yes it did! You can see that I have 2 weeks worth of outgrowth at my cuticles, but the polish is still completely intact and shiny.
I didn’t get a pedicure with this appointment, but heard that a Dazzle Dry pedicure can last up to 3 weeks.
You can go directly to the Dazzle Dry website to see which nail salons near you offers the system. Or you can purchase your own Dazzle Dry products to use at home. The polishes cost $18 and the complete system starts at $60.
I was impressed with the staying power of this system and am ready to go back and try another color, maybe a bright red, as we enter the Christmas season.
