All Natural Lash Serums That Work
Eyelashes. Some people are born with thick, long lashes and some are not. I happen to fall into the second camp. My eyelashes were never very obvious without lots of mascara. Now that I’m without a thyroid, my lashes are even more thin and sparse than before. I’ve tried lash extensions but was allergic to the glue. Each time I did a test to see if my eyes could tolerate them, within a few days my eyes were red, swollen, and itched like hell. And I mean complete, utter, hell! So I’ve been doing some experimenting with lash serums that are without all of the toxic chemicals in them to see which ones are worth using. Here is my list of all-natural lash serums that work.
How Do Eyelash Serums Work?
Let me begin by saying that it’s important to use eyelash growth serums that do not contain any parabens, toxic chemicals, or fragrance. A few good ones have missed my list due to their use of one of these. Many women going through cancer treatments, lose their eyelashes and eyebrows. Thyroid disease and other hormone imbalances can also contribute to hair loss that includes lashes and brows. Using clean active ingredients to achieve longer and thicker lashes is important for your long term health. Some of the best ingredients used to promote hair growth, actually contain natural ingredients like castor oil, pumpkin seed extract, and hyaluronic acid.
The way an eyelash serum works are two-fold. First, they hydrate and coat the surface of the eyelashes which ultimately adds the volume that you’re craving. They also stimulate the hair follicles or create an optimal environment for the hair follicles to grow.
Most lash enhancers require you to use them twice per day, along the lash line, over a period of 30-45 days before seeing results. The hair follicles have a 45-day growth cycle, so you can’t abandon efforts with the serum until you’ve gone through the whole growth cycle.
It’s good to note that some of the side effects of using lash serums include a darkening of the eyelids and the iris of the eye. Some may cause dryness and itching.
In addition to being diligent with the lash serum and using as directed on the package. You should also:
- eat a healthy diet rich in vitamins and proteins
- avoid rubbing your eyes
- take makeup off before bed (since makeup buildup can cause eyelash loss)
- have patience (you won’t see any growth for at least two weeks, and no significant growth for 30-60 days)
